Tattoo in Progress - Part 2

On Saturday I went down to London for the second stage of my new tattoo.
I'm having it done by Stewart Robson in Frith Street Tattoo, Soho.
I can't wait for it to be coloured in & finished now!

BBC 6 Music Live Suede Gig at Maida Vale

Back in February I was lucky enough to win tickets to see Suede at Maida Vale for Lauren Laverne's 6 Music Show...
I was pretty excited as I'd never been to Maida Vale and was obviously excited to see Suede too!
The tickets themselves don't actually guarantee entry to the show, so we had to make sure we got their early enough! Luckily we were there in plenty of time so got a wristband to get in to the show
Yay! I was in my element...!
The show itself was awesome. The studio is absolutely teeny - I think it holds about 200 people so it was amazing to be in such an intimate show. They played songs off the new album as well as a couple of older ones.

Lauren Laverne interviewed Suede and Shaun Keaveny was in the crowd taking questions from the audience too. A few of the audience had traveled further than us in Sheffield - 2 had come over from Italy especially!

The show was really short itself but really fun and a great experience!

OOTD & Cold War Kids at HMV Ritz, Manchester

Last Friday night I went over to Manchester to watch Cold War Kids at the HMV Ritz.

Not an amazing photo but this is what I wore...
Bowler Hat: Topshop
Checked Sleeveless Shirt: Topshop
Black Skirt: H&M
Black Bow Pumps: Clothing at Tesco
The gig itself was awesome. I think that HMV Ritz is probably one of my favourite venues due to the size of it and the balcony - it's always nice to go to a gig and actually be able to see the band!

They played a brilliant set and all of the songs that I love too. It was the first time I'd seen them play a headline show. I caught part of their set a few years ago at Glastonbury. It was definitely worth the wait!

Trip to London March 2013

Back in March I went down to London for the weekend with my Mum to catch up with my brother & his fiance.
My Mum had booked us a boat to stay on through Airbnb which was situated at St Katherines Dock. Location wise it was really central and obviously it was a pretty unusual place to stay too!
When we arrived, Jack & Hannah had the kettle on, perfect!
The boat was pretty "cosy" to live on!

We went for a wander round Soho as I wanted to pop into Frith Street Tattoo to book an appointment. I spotted this while we were walking round.
Hannah mentioned that she would like to get married in shoes from Irregular Choice. I asked if she'd ever been to the store in Carnaby Street, which she hadn't so we had a trip there too. I love the decor!
The seating is so cool too!
I think I have found my dream shoes!
We also took Hannah to Bubbleology on Rupert Street for her first bubble tea!
I was quite happy to get my bubble tea fix too!
Getting a bit giddy at the sight of Ryan Gosling on the underground. Oh dear.
We had a quick walk around Camden Lock too.
In the "snow"!
We turned shopping into "disco shopping"...
I caved in and bought a pair of Kickers from Lazy Oaf. I am in love.
A quick trip to Johnny Cupcakes too. Where the shoes received some more appreciation.
We also popped into Marine Ices in Camden/Chalk Farm. We've been going there for years and I love it.
Couldn't resist not having an ice cream, even if it was snowing!
In the evening I met up with my old housemate Dave for dinner with some of his friends in Hackney.
We went to Hackney Bureau and I had a veggie curry which was so good!
Birthday cake/firework!

Live at Leeds 2013

A couple of weekends ago I was lucky enough to go along to Live at Leeds 2013.
I had decided that I was going to go along at the last minute so hadn't had much time to look at who was playing. I had seen that there were a few bands on that I'd not seen before like the sound of so was looking forward to checking them out...
Little Comets

Little Comets were the first band we saw when we arrived. They were playing at the O2 Academy. I'd heard the name before but I didn't think that I'd heard any of their music. It turns out that once they started playing I recognised their songs. I really like them, especially "A Little Opus"! I'd definitely like to watch them again. The crowd was really good too.
Sweet Baboo

I'd heard a few songs by Sweet Baboo on 6 Music and like the sound. He was playing at the Wardrobe, where I'd been once before for a Burlesque night. It's a pretty cool little music venue and reminds me a bit of the Boardwalk in Sheffield. I was surprised when it was just 3 people playing as the music I'd heard before, there seems to be quite a bit going on. The set was brilliant. It was totally different to what I imagined but really fun. I ended up buying a CD afterwards. My favourite song is "Let's Go Swimming Wild".
The 1975

We were lucky enough to have wristbands that let us skip the queues. There was a ginormous one outside the Cockpit, which made it one in one out so we saw about 5 minutes of the 1975 set...

I really wanted to catch Savages as they're another band that I've heard quite a bit from on 6 Music and my boss saw them in the week & said they were good. They were playing in Stylus, a venue I'd not been in before (and was a bit confused how to get downstairs as it was pretty packed at the time!) The only way to describe the set is intense! They were absolutely awesome. I think there are definitely a lot of influences from Joy Division (or Xmal Deutschland) but in a good way. I think that "She Will" is definitely my favourite track by them.
Dutch Uncles

I stayed in Stylus to watch Dutch Uncles. I couldn't really decide whether I like their sound or not. They are good, but I don't think they're really my cup of tea. I do like the use of  xylophone! The band seemed really fun... The lead singers dancing was pretty special too.
The Walkmen

The final band we caught were The Walkmen, again in Stylus. We didn't stay for the whole set as I wasn't feeling too well but what we saw of them was great. I love their song "The Rat" so was pretty happy that they played it a few songs in! They were really energetic, the crowd were going mad and the atmosphere was really good too!
Cornish Pasty FTW!
